    Hi everyone,
After struggling with the focus on my sankyo 420 xl i have got a canon 514 xl. I shot the same scen with the same ligthning(an old 1000w lamp) with both those two cameras mentionend plus with a ricoh 800 camera. The result was as always bad with my sankyo, the picture was pretty dark and blurry, i've never succeeded to get a focused picture indoors with that camera. With the canon, the picture was really really bright and fhe focus was ok, the scene shot with the ricoh was dark but better than the scene shot with the sankyo and it was better focus.

Anyone know what the problem with the sankyo could be?

Should that camera be good in low lightning?
    the best/
    jan.

I've been a bit skeptical about the lens on the Sankyo's, they built the camera body out of steel, then put plastic knobs on it, and the lens even has a plastic feel to it.

Some people really like the camera, I call it a poor mans Canon 1014XLS...but I still think Sankyo cut too many corners when they made the camera.

If you avoid keeping the lens wide open (F 1.2) your result should improve, especially if you have plenty of brightness from your light source...although you did say the sankyo produced a dark image....that's a little confusing...perhaps the sankyo was in macro mode by mistake.

It seems to me the canon is your best bet, you just overexposed your shot, by properly exposing the shot...(lowering your f-stop setting) your shot should be sharper and not as overly bright.
